Seahawks News: Was Seattle and San Francisco Monday Night Football Classic the Game of the Year?

Undeniably – if we recap an NFL game – it can be assumed that game was incredible. On Monday Night Football, it took five quarters to decide the tilt between the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers.

In the end, the Seahawks prevailed; after looking like they had lost a half-dozen times. First, the 49ers built a 10-0 lead and had the ball in full control of the action. Then, Russell Wilson took over and started making MVP-type plays. Moreover, it was the second win in OT in a row for the now 8-2 Seahawks. Equally important, they hung the first loss on Kyle Shannahan as head coach of the 49ers.

In the end, kicker Jason Myers hit the game-winner from 42 yards out to give the Seahawks the 27-24 victory. Remember, Myers missed two field goals and an extra point against Tampa Bay last week which forced the Seahawks to win in overtime at home.

Furthermore, the 49ers kicker Chase McGlaughlin had a great night until he had a chance to win San Francisco the game in overtime.

After Wilson threw a red zone interception, the 49ers got the ball into field goal position and sent McGlaughlin out to kick for the win rather than go for a 4th and inches situation.

Still, McLaughlin seemed to choke; pushing a nubbed kick to the left on the 47-yard attempt. Notably, McLaughlin was successful on his first three field goals after being signed earlier in the week to replace the injured incumbent Robbie Gould.

The biggest play on the winning drive was a long run by Wilson in which he used his legs to extend the play. While it won’t go down as his best statistical night ever, the tools that make Wilson so special were on full-display all night long for Seattle.

Right now, the Seahawks have to be in the conversation as a serious threat in the NFC. When you knock off an unbeaten division rival at their house in primetime, you get those credentials.

Finally, if you had the chance to watch this game; it will go down in the memory bank as one of the craziest and best you ever saw.
