Shell Houston Open Daily Fantasy Lineup

In the final spot before The Masters, some of the best in the world will compete in the Shell Houston Open. Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Henrik Stenson and Phil Mickelson are among this year’s top competitors at the event. Since we couldn’t afford them all in our DraftKings lineup, we needed to get a little creative pairing some of the top plays available with some smart value picks. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for this week’s DraftKings PGA fantasy competitions.

Jordan Spieth, $12,000

Spieth enters this tournament as the sports betting favorite to win outright for a reason. He will be the hometown favorite and he will play a course he is very familiar with. Spieth was the runner-up in a playoff here in 2015 and then finished T-13th here last year. He leads the PGA Tour in greens hit, ranks fourth in birdie-or-better percentage and he can really thrive at this course. Spieth is the most expensive play on the DraftKings board for a reason. Make sure you lock him in as your top pick this week.

Phil Mickelson, $8,900

Speaking of a horse for the course, Mickelson is another excellent option this week. Lefty has finished no worse than T-17th at this event since he won it in 2011. His recent form is on point and this is the perfect opportunity for him to gain some momentum before The Masters. At under $9K, Mickelson should be a lock in your DraftKings lineup this week.

Rafael Cabrera Bello, $7,900

Cabrera Bello fired a 65 in the final round of his debut at this tournament a year ago. After finishing fourth, he could be primed for another excellent performance. Cabrera Bello led the field in par-4 scoring last year and ranked second in scrambling. Cabrera Bello has been a model of consistency of late and should thrive in his second start in the Shell Houston Open. At under $8K, it’s hard to find a better value pick than Cabrera Bello. We’ll take a shot with him hoping he carries over his success from last season.

Billy Horschel, $7,700

One of the most intriguing aspects of Horschel’s entry this week is that he needs a win to get in to The Masters. Horschel hasn’t played in this tournament since 2013. However, he was the runner-up here in that last trip and he will undoubtedly be motivated to put on a show here this week. Horschel currently ranks fourth on the PGA Tour in Greens In Regulation and 28th in adjusted scoring. At under $8K, Horschel is another excellent value pick. He’ll be motivated to get the job done at the Shell Houston Open. He wants to make his way to Augusta and that should help.

Keegan Bradley, $7,100

Bradley has struggled with consistency this season. In turn, his price tag is likely a little lower than it should be this week. It doesn’t help that he missed the cut here a year ago. However, there is reason to believe he could be an excellent sleeper pick. Bradley placed fifth at this tournament in 2015 when he shot a 66 in the second round. He has never missed the cut in any of his other appearances here. That includes a top-10 finish in 2013 and a fourth place finish in 2012. Bradley definitely has the pedigree to succeed this week and at $7.1K, he seems to be a smart option. He’s struggling now but is a good DFS value play. Given his history here, he has a legit chance for a Top 10. At $7,100, he could potentially be offering great value.

Roberto Castro, $6,400

At just $6.4K, Castro might be the perfect sleeper pick to complete our DraftKings lineup. The Houston, Texas-native is 6-for-9 in made cuts this season and he knows this course well. Castro placed 27th at this event a year ago and could be primed for another top-30 finish. Considering his price tag and the flexibility he provides for our lineup, repeating last year’s result would make him a steal. We’re not expecting him to win the tournament. However, a good showing would help our cause at the Shell Houston Open.
