Shooting at Raptors Parade, Horford Opts out and More

John E. Sokolowski-USA TODAY Sports

Tragedy struck at a celebration Monday when gunmen shot four people at the Raptors’ championship parade in Toronto. None of the injuries appear to be life-threatening, and three arrests have been made, though no charges have yet been filed. Back in free-agency world, Al Horford decided to opt out of his contract with the Boston Celtics and will become a free agent. That’s not the case for Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry, who will remain with the team at least two more years. And circling back to the Finals, where will Kawhi Leonard, the prime free agent this offseason now that Kevin Durant is hurt, land?

Police eventually arrested a third suspect and are reportedly searching for a fourth.

Word is the Celtics and Horford would still like to work out another deal, but for now, Big Al is a free agent.

Alvin Gentry has had a remarkable turnaround, from the hot seat in the wake of Anthony Davis’ trade demand to getting to coach the No. 1 pick with some added job security.

There is obvious tension in Houston, but perhaps that’s the just the price of falling short in the playoffs year after year. Winning would solve everything.

Kawhi Leonard to the Clippers? That’s the hot rumor, and it would further turn the Western Conference on its head for next season.
