SmackDown Recap: No Mercy Go-Home Show

This upcoming Sunday features No Mercy, the SmackDown’s first Pay-Per-View since Backlash, and their last before the joint-branded Survivor Series in November. Going into Sunday, who can gain the edge going into their big matches?

Bray Wyatt vs. Kane
To kick off SmackDown is some in-ring action, where Bray Wyatt prepares for his match this Sunday against Randy Orton. The Eater of the Worlds was supposed to take on the Apex Predator at Backlash, but since Wyatt attacked Orton backstage, he got a surprise no disqualification match against Kane. The Big Red Machine would end up victorious after Orton interfered with an RKO, and Wyatt looks to pick up his last possible victory before No Mercy.

During the match, Randy Orton appears on the Titantron to play mind games with Wyatt, and Kane fails to take advantage with a chokeslam. Wyatt is torn to either pursue Orton or Kane, and walks towards the back. Winner (via count-out): Kane

Alexa Bliss vs. Nikki Bella
Alexa Bliss is the current #1 Contender to Becky Lynch’s SmackDown Women’s Championship. Before facing the current champion, Bliss has to take on the longest reigning Divas Champion of all time in Nikki Bella. Joining commentary is the woman who has had her problems with Nikki Bella recently, Carmella.

Nikki Bella throws Bliss into Carmella at ringside, and Carmella interferes in the match to attack Bella. Winner (via disqualification): Nikki Bella

Becky Lynch & Nikki Bella vs. Carmella & Alexa Bliss
During the commercial break, Teddy Long Daniel Bryan restores order by turning a brawl into a tag team match. Now with two heated rivalries coming to a head in one match, we could get a sneak peak of No Mercy.

After Nikki Bella chases Carmella to the back, Alexa Bliss hits the Twisted Bliss splash on Becky Lynch to pick up the victory. If that happens again the Sunday, we will have a new Smackdown Women’s Champion. Winners: Carmella & Alexa Bliss

Backstage Segment
Bray Wyatt is backstage looking for Randy Orton when he comes across his rocking chair. Wyatt takes the bait, and after he approaches the chair, Randy Orton locks him in a storage room.

The Vaudevillains vs. The Hype Bros
While neither of these teams are in contention for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships, a win could help the victors climb the ladder in the division.

While The Ascension looks on from the entrance ramp, Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder hit the Hype Ryder on Aiden English to pick up the victory. Winners: The Hype Bros

MizTV feat. Dolph Ziggler
Because Dolph Ziggler is putting his career on the line for the Intercontinental Championship this Sunday, The Miz decided to put together a “Dolphumentary,” which featured several moments of Dolph Ziggler getting humiliated throughout his career. As a gift for Ziggler, The Miz found two members of the Spirit Squad, Kenny and Mikey, and brings them to the ring to chant about the championship match this Sunday.

After Ziggler gets in Miz’s face, The Miz orders Kenny and Mikey to attack Ziggler. Ziggler fends them off, and knocks them out with superkicks. If Ziggler loses this Sunday, this could be the last we see of him on SmackDown.

Jason Jordan (w/Chad Gable) vs. Jey Uso (w/Jimmy Uso)
American Alpha have had some issue with The Usos over the past few weeks when Jimmy and Jey injured the leg of Chad Gable following a very quick loss in the SmackDown Tag Team Championship tournament.

Jason Jordan gets a quick roll-up victory over Jey Uso, and the #1 Contenders look to injure Jordan’s leg as well. Before Jordan gets seriously hurt, Heath Slater and Rhyno rush the ring to send the Usos retreating. Winner: Jason Jordan

Backstage Segment
Randy Orton returns to check up on Bray Wyatt, and he isn’t there. Somehow Wyatt disappeared from the room the he was locked in after having a “conversation” with Sister Abigail.

Jack Swagger vs. Baron Corbin
As one could easily forget, Jack Swagger jumped from Raw to SmackDown, and apparently has his sights set on Baron Corbin. After the two have a verbal spat backstage, they decide to have a match instead.

Before the match gets underway, it is announced that Curt Hawkins will make his WWE return, and SmackDown Live debut, at No Mercy.

While in Swagger’s ankle lock, Baron Corbin is trying to reach for the rope but the referee thinks that Corbin is tapping out. Winner (via submission): Jack Swagger

In-ring Segment
AJ Styles will defend the WWE World Championship at No Mercy against John Cena and Dean Ambrose. Before their triple threat match, they go face-to-face-to-face. Styles and Ambrose go off on Cena for being the top dog, and they tear into him for what he has said about them over the past few weeks. Instead of responding with words, Cena responds with a spear to Ambrose. The brawl ends after Dean Ambrose hits AJ Styles with Dirty Deeds on the steel ramp, and ends SmackDown standing tall.
