ESPN reporters Joey Lynch and Alex Hatzikostas have been added to the Socceroos’ pre-World Cup training camp in Florida, according to ESPN. The pair will file daily updates as part of the outlet’s Socceroos Cup Diaries ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The diaries will follow Australia’s preparations in North America and provide behind-the-scenes coverage from the camp, ESPN said. Coverage will include training reports and squad developments as coach Tony Popovic moves toward a June 1 roster announcement.
Veteran internationals Jackson Irvine, Mathew Leckie and Harry Souttar were full participants in Saturday’s training session as they seek to demonstrate fitness and form ahead of the selection deadline, ESPN reported.
The squad suffered a setback when Nicholas D’Agostino withdrew from camp with a leg injury, a development that will affect his hopes of making the final 26-man roster, according to ESPN.
Additional players are expected to arrive in the coming days, and Popovic and his staff are awaiting clarity on Riley McGree’s availability after he limped off with an apparent hamstring injury in Middlesbrough’s playoff final loss to Hull City, ESPN said.
