Indiana is one of the more interesting states in regards to gambling laws. They have plenty of casino gambling, tribal gambling, and horse racing available, but still no sports betting. They have a very interesting fast and loose approach to betting of any type.

They were also one of the only states to update their betting laws in the last few decades, so online gambling is actually included in the laws, prohibiting it.

It’s confusing because they have legal horse racing, plenty of casinos, and even allow fantasy sports betting, but bans online gambling and sports betting.

Indiana has about 10 casinos, some of which are riverboats, that offer a Las Vegas experience, lots of slot machines, and some even have table games. We should note that Poker isn’t legal in the state of Indiana.

Can I bet on sports in Indiana?

Unfortunately no. The unique law in Indiana that bans sports betting really cuts off any hope for sports bettors in the state. Many states have dated laws that don’t include online gambling, but Indiana has a specific law that prohibits it. So no, legally you cannot bet on sports in Indiana. Does that stop people? Probably not.

The best bet for residents of Indiana would be visiting neighboring states that have legal sports betting or at least states without a ban on online sportsbooks.

And ultimately hope for Indiana lawmakers to change their minds soon.
