New Mexico has always been interested in legalizing sports betting, and the time has finally come: sports betting is now legalized in New Mexico.

New Mexico housed plenty of sports bettors before the legalization, as their close proximity to Mexico, who has plenty of betting parlours near the borders, and Las Vegas, who is well – Las Vegas.

New Mexico is home to nearly 30 tribal casinos, and several state-licensed horse racing tracks that also house casinos. These locations are expected to soon house more sportsbooks as the casinos and racebooks start rolling out their sports betting configuration.

Daily fantasy sports is not yet legalized in the state, as the state is struggling to decide if they want to legalize it or not. Many states are jumping on board with the idea that Fantasy Sports is a game of skill rather than chance, and chose to legalize.

Can I bet on sports in New Mexico?

In October, New Mexico became the sixth state with legal regulated sports betting since the US Supreme Court ruling in May.

Sports betting went live at the Santa Ana Star Casino and Hotel in Bernalillo, NM, located just outside Albuquerque. The 100,000 square-foot facility is operated by the Tamaya Nation at the Pueblo of Santa Ana.

The other option for New Mexico sports bettors is to bet on the internet with an online sportsbook. There are plenty of options that are safe and reliable, and easy to use when it comes to online sportsbooks. You can sign up and start betting within minutes, the hardest part is choosing a sportsbook that suits your needs.

Betting on New Mexico Sports Teams

The only real sports team that New Mexico is known for is their New Mexico State Aggies college basketball program. They’ve been around for 110 seasons, and are known across the country, though they’ve never won a national championship. They usually can make it to the second round, but usually not much further than that.

What to look for in an online sportsbook

If you choose to bet on an online sportsbook, there are plenty of options available, too many in fact. You need to do your research before signing up at an online sportsbook because many are different, and have different options, regulations and conditions, so you want to ensure you know what you’re signing up for, and if they have certain criteria that you need.

Some people look for certain deposit options or if the sportsbook has a mobile app, and it’s good to know that a sportsbook has that before you sign up. This is where sportsbook reviews come in handy. Many bettors read several sportsbook reviews before signing up at an online sportsbook.
