The San Antonio Spurs closed out the Minnesota Timberwolves with a 139-109 win to take the series in six and will face defending champion Oklahoma City in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals Monday night, per the report.

Stephon Castle led the Spurs with 32 points and 11 rebounds, making his first five 3-pointers and finishing 11-for-16 from the floor, the report says. De’Aaron Fox contributed 21 points and nine assists while rookie Dylan Harper added 15 points off the bench. Julian Champagnie provided scoring with four 3s among his 18 points as the Spurs’ guards kept Minnesota on its heels.

Victor Wembanyama was limited to 19 points in 27 minutes as he was well-guarded by the Wolves, but he remained a defensive deterrent in the paint and frequently joined the Spurs in transition, according to the report. The account notes that Wembanyama had a dominant showing in Game 5 with 27 points, 17 rebounds, five assists and three blocks after his Game 4 ejection.

Minnesota received 24 points from Anthony Edwards on 9-for-26 shooting, with reserves Terrence Shannon Jr. scoring 21 and Naz Reid adding 18, the report says. Julius Randle struggled, finishing with three points on 1-for-8 shooting. The Spurs outscored the Wolves by 97 points across the series and, per the report, never trailed by double digits in any game.

The report credits San Antonio’s size, guard shooting and a relentless, switch-heavy defense for overwhelming Minnesota, which has endured several lopsided postseason defeats in recent years. The account recalls a 30-point loss at Oklahoma City when Minnesota trailed by 33 at halftime in a Western Conference finals elimination game last year and a 21-point Game 5 loss to Dallas in 2024 when the Wolves were down by 29 at the break.
