The White Sox are 45-45 against the spread (ATS), but only 30-60 straight up (SU). They’ve lost 20.1 units for moneyline bettors and 7.3 units (ATS). Chicago has a 3-4 ATS mark over its last seven games and the total has gone over in four of those seven. The Cardinals have gone 46-43 SU this year and are 44-45 ATS. In total, the team’s lost 6.8 units for bettors taking the moneyline and 4.7 units ATS. St. Louis has covered the spread four times in its last seven games and the over has hit in four of those seven.

White Sox games have a 41-44-5 over/under record so far in 2018. Cardinals games have gone under 47 times, gone over 38 times and pushed on four occasions.

The right-handed Miles Mikolas will get the start for the visiting Cardinals. Mikolas (9-3, 2.63 ERA) has racked up 75 strikeouts in 109.1 innings so far. He has yet to face the White Sox this year and did not record a start against them in 2017, either.

The White Sox will send righty Dylan Covey (3-4, 5.54 ERA) to the mound. Covey has 38 punchouts and 24 walks to his credit, as well as a WHIP of 1.59. Covey did not record a start against the Cardinals in 2017.

St. Louis’ pitching staff allowed 4.2 runs per game and its starters own a 3.48 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 8.02 K/9. The bullpen has managed an ERA of 4.21, along with a WHIP of 1.24.

Cardinals hitters have slashed .245/.318/.401 on their way to 4.4 runs scored per game this season, including 5.0 runs per game over the team’s last 10 games and 6.4 per game over the team’s last five outings (3-2 SU).

Chicago’s hitters have put up 4.0 runs per outing, including 5.0 per game over its last 10 games and 3.6 per game over their last five. The team has slashed .206/.257/.375 over its last five matchups and is 0-5 SU during that stretch.

The White Sox hitters have been led by first baseman Jose Abreu and third baseman Yolmer Sanchez. Abreu is slashing .259/.315/.448 with 12 home runs, 50 RBIs and 42 runs scored, and Sanchez’s line is .257/.308/.411 with five homers, 41 RBIs, 32 runs and nine stolen bases.
