St. Louis Ties it Up, Canada Hammers Germany, and More

There isn’t much hockey on the docket for the next week as we wait on the Western Conference Finals to play out after Boston’s sweep of Carolina in the Eastern Conference Finals. St. Louis’ Game 4 win means that Friday is the soonest the Stanley Cup Finals will start, so let’s take a look across the pond as the Group Stages at the 2019 IIHF World Championships conclude and look back at last night’s game.

St. Louis was singing Gloria at full volume after last night’s 2-1 win over San Jose in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals. Ivan Barbashev and Tyler Bozak scored the two goals for the Blues, as Jordan Binnington stopped 29 of 30 shots in the win.

Binnington continues to have an amazing postseason. He is now just the 10th rookie goaltender in NHL history to have 10 or more wins in his first playoff run, and he is out to lead the Blues to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in nearly 50 years.

Mark Stone came up big throughout the postseason with the Vegas Golden Knights, and he has brought his scoring touch to Team Canada in Slovakia. Stone led the way with three goals in an 8-1 smashing of Team Germany on Saturday.

Team USA hammered Team Denmark 7-1 on Saturday, essentially punching its ticket to the knockout rounds with the win. A win over Team Germany on Sunday would do it, and they have to be feeling great after the Germans were pummeled by the Canadians.
