Stop Calling Randy Edsall and Syracuse Has New Uniforms

Randy Edsall has definitely been a busy man today. Earlier this morning, reports broke that UConn was set to join the Big East in 2020, and the school’s football coach is pleading ignorance when it comes to the proposed move. Edsall was the Huskies’ head coach when the program was at its height in the 2000s, and he returned to Storrs in 2017 after five seasons at Maryland. No one knows just what the next move is for UConn football at this point, but we will certainly hear rumors in the coming days.

For years, Twitter account @NoEscalators has championed the case for UConn to return to the Big East, and this has been a great day for the brand. There have been some funny shots at the AAC today, and the general exuberance of the account has been a joy to watch. Best of luck to UConn in their more traditional home.

Over the next few weeks, there will be at least a dozen G5 schools rumored to join the AAC. The AAC has a far more lucrative television contract than any of the other G5 conferences, and any school in Conference USA or the Sun Belt would jump at the chance to join. There will be a lot of news on this front, but don’t be surprised if the AAC stays at 11.

Dino Babers has completely changed the perception of Syracuse football in just three seasons. The Orange have gone from being a laughing stock in the ACC to being one of the conference’s better teams, and the athletic department decided a reboot was in order. Syracuse will have new uniforms for the 2019 season, and while there aren’t any major changes, it’s a fresh look for a fresh program. This is one of the most exciting programs to watch with their lightning quick tempo, and more people will take notice in 2019.
