Arnold Palmer Invitational Daily Fantasy Lineup

With the exception of World No. 1 Dustin Johnson, the majority of the best golfers in the world will make their way to the Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Florida this week for the Arnold Palmer Invitational. This field for this week’s event will feature the defending champion Jason Day along with Rory McIlroy, Henrik Stenson, Rickie Fowler and Hideki Matsuyama. We can only select so many high-priced options in DraftKings tournaments so we made some smart choices to compliment the big guns in our lineup for this week’s event. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for This Week’s DraftKings PGA daily fantasy leagues.

Jason Day, $10,600

Day’s health has been an issue over the past couple of years but he is feeling good entering this week’s event and that should mean strong results. The defending Arnold Palmer Invitational champion isn’t even the highest-priced option on the board with both McIlroy and Stenson listed as more expensive options and that makes him even more attractive. Day hasn’t won since the 2016 Players Championship so he is overdue for a victory and he has already proven he can win at Bay Hill.

Hideki Matsuyama, $10,300

Matsuyama started the season on fire so it was definitely a surprise to see him miss the cut at the Genesis Open and then finish outside the top-20 the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship. Matsuyama should be primed to bounce back with a strong performance this week and the fact that he is available at almost $2K less than McIlroy with similar upside makes him that much more attractive. Matsuyama should be in line for a top-10 finish with a real chance to contend for the outright win this week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Zach Johnson, $8,400

Johnson might not be considered in the same tier as some of the top options on the board but he probably should be considering his past success at this tournament. Johnson has registered six top-11 finishes in 13 career tournaments here including back-to-back top-10 finishes his last two outings. Johnson is available at just over $8K so he is the perfect compliment to Day and Matsuyama as a third potentially elite option in DraftKings tournaments.

Charles Howell III, $6,900

With just under $21K left over to fill out the final three spots for our DraftKings roster, we definitely have to find some value and Howell is an excellent option. Howell has two top-10 finishes in six starts this season including a runner-up finish at the Farmers Insurance Open so he is definitely a capable play. At under $7K, Howell III could surprise as a strong value pick at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Graham De Laet, $6,800

Adam Hadwin’s win at the Valspar Championship led to his DraftKings price spiking for this weeks’s tournament so we decided to try out another Canadian entry at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. De Laet has registered four straight top-25 finishes including a 22nd place finish at the Valspar Championship last week. At under $7K, De Laet should be another excellent sleeper pick for this week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Ian Poulter, $6,800

Our final option at under $7K is Poulter, who is another horse for the course that has thrived at Bay Hill in the past. Hopefully we cash in this week with our last pick the same way we did with last week’s last pick, which proved to be the tournament winner, Adam Hadwin.

Poulter finished a disappointing 46th at this tournament a year ago but prior to that, had never finished lower than 21st in his five previous appearances. Poulter has struggled of late but coming back to a course where he’s previously had a good track record of success could be just what he needs to piece together a strong performance this week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. So far this season, he placed in a tie for 17th at the CIMB Classic, then was cut at the Sanderson Farms Championship and the OHL Classic at Maykoba, then tied for 36th at the RSM Classic and tied for 43rd at the Honda Classic before finishing in a tie for 41st at the Valspar Championship.
