NCAA accuses Jeremy Pruitt, an ex-coach, of 18 Level I infractions

According to a letter obtained by the Knoxville News-Sentinel, the NCAA formally informed Tennessee on Friday of the alleged breaches that were allegedly committed under former coach Jeremy Pruitt. The letter lists a total of 18 infractions, all of which are Level I offences, which are the most serious according to the NCAA’s scale.

Approximately $60,000 in cash and gifts are said to have been given to Tennessee athletes and their families by Pruitt, his wife, assistant coaches, and other school personnel. Pruitt is charged with failing to oversee the football staff from 2018 to 21 and to foster a culture of compliance, while the institution is charged with failing to monitor its recruiting strategies.

Tennessee self-reported the infractions during an investigation that resulted in Pruitt’s departure in January 2021. Danny White, the athletic director, said that a decision is almost final and that further discussion is not permitted until then.
