For the second week in a row New York Giants second-year wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will not participate in organized team activities as a precaution over the sore left hamstring that hampered him all last season.

Even with the sore hamstring Beckham was pretty good, catching 91 passes for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns on his way to becoming one of the premier players in the NFL and the cover star of the Madden 16 video game from EA Sports.
The Giants hope the rest will have Beckham ready by the time training camp starts, which is also when they expect wide receiver Victor Cruz’s return after surgery to repair a torn patellar tendon in his knee last season.
Corey Liuget signs five-year extension with San Diego
The San Diego Chargers are making safety Eric Weddle sweat for his new contract, but defensive end Corey Liuget can relax after signing a five-year, $58.5 million deal with $30 million guaranteed Tuesday.

Liuget didn’t have a monster season last year, with just 4.5 sacks and 57 tackles, but he was solid enough for the Chargers to want to invest long-term and build around him on the defensive line and in the linebacking corps. Liuget has started 61 games over the last four seasons.
Liuget was a first round pick out of the University of Illinois in 2011.
Eric Reid could have been the fifth 49er to retire according to local paper, Reid disputes
Siting his own concussion concerns, San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid considered retirement this offseason according to the San Francisco Chronicle. An article that Reid now disputes.
“Everybody evaluates their own situation as far as playing this game,” Reid is quoted in the Chronicle. “I’ve evaluated mine and I’ve decided I still want to play.”
Reid didn’t miss a game last season and has only missed one in his two-year career. His 77 tackles, four interceptions and 11 passes defended made him the cornerstone of the 49ers pass defense.
But going back to his college days at LSU Reid has three confirmed concussions. When asked by the paper if he’d sustained another, he was vague in his answer.
“I’m not putting a number to it,” Reid said. “I will continue to evaluate my own situation. If I have another concussion and I don’t feel like I can play anymore, then I won’t. If I (have another concussion), and if I feel that I still can play, then I will. It’s just a case-by-case basis. I know it’s a huge deal right now in the NFL and everything is being put under a microscope, but that’s how every injury is. It could be a dislocated shoulder. You evaluate your situation and see if you’re healthy enough to still play.”
After the article was published, Reid took to Twitter to deny the assumption he was contemplating retirement.

Muhammed Wilkerson ends hold 0ut speculation, shows up to OTAs
Muhammed Wilkerson wants a new contract and the New York Jets probably want to give him one. Want they don’t want is for him to hold out and after he showed up Tuesday to organized team activities, Wilkerson made it clear he’s ready to play along.

The fifth-year defensive end is coming off his second best season, with 56 tackles, six sacks, one forced fumble and five passes defended. Wilkerson is entering the final year of his rookie contract and the Jets probably don’t want to let him walk. They’re being tight with the purse since going on an offseason spending spree. With Liuget’s deal with the Chargers closing on the same day that Wilkerson showed up to camp, the pressure is now on the Jets to get something done. If Wilkerson hits the free agent market next season, they most likely won’t be able to keep him.
Wilkerson couldn’t afford to hold out, not only because of potential fines, but he couldn’t let first-round pick Leonard Williams get a foot-hold on the line and just outright take his job. Wilkerson is set to make $6.97 million this season.
Player moves
After being suspected in a hit-and-run, the New England Patriots cut linebacker Brandon Spikes.
The Seattle Seahawks re-signed back-up quarterback Tavaris Jackson to back up Russell Wilson. Jackson has played well in Seattle and even won a playoff game in 2011.
Former New Orleans Saints cornerback Tracy Porter signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears.
The Miami Dolphins added free agent wide receiver Tommy Streeter to their roster. Streeter was with the Jacksonville Jaguars last season.
The Dallas Cowboys added a runner to their backfield by signing former Baylor standout Lache Seastrunk. Seastrunk was drafted by the Washington Redkskins last season in the sixth round before spending the year on the Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans practice squads.
