Premier Boxing Champions Odds: Adonis Stevenson Defends World Title Against Tommy Karpency

The “Premier Boxing Champions” series hits on back-to-back nights this weekend with Adonis Stevenson vs Tommy Karpency as the Friday main event on Spike TV. Peter Quillin then faces Michael Zerafa on Saturday on NBC.

For Stevenson (26-1), it will be the fifth defense of his WBC World title at light heavyweight.  This is Stevenson’s second appearance on a PBC broadcast, as he faced veteran Sakio Bika back in April. Unfortunately for Stevenson his rival in the weight class, Sergey Kovalev, belongs to HBO and not the PBC so the match everyone wants to see seems out of reach.  Karpency (25-4-1) is a fighter with good experience, having defeated Chad Dawson and been in there with the likes of Karo Murat, Nathan Cleverly and Andrzej Fonfara, but few are giving him a shot to upend Stevenson.

On Saturday night, middleweight Peter Quillin (31-0-1) returns for his second fight on the “PBC” series as he faces South Africa’s Michael Zerafa.  Quillin faced WBO World Middleweight champion Andy Lee back in April on a PBC broadcast in a match that was engineered to give Quillin back the WBO World title he vacated.

Quillin is getting a bounce back fight after falling flat on his face in his last fight. First, he failed to make weight, leaving the title with Lee before the match even started, and then he fought to a lackluster draw that gave him the first blemish on his up to then perfect record. For Zerafa, this is a step-up fight, but he left his native South Africa and has been fighting in the USA for several years now, going undefeated in that stint to earn this shot.
