UFC 184: Ronda Rousey Beat Cat Zingano In 14 Seconds

Last night at the UFC 184 card held in Las Vegas, UFC women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey took out challenger Cat Zingano in just 14 seconds, using an arm bar to get the urgent tap out win.  So much for the thought that Zingano was Rousey’s biggest challenge to date, as it did not matter at all when the cage was locked and referee John McCarthy yelled “Let’s get it on”.

Rousey walked in the most dominant female martial artist of all time, and though it may have appeared impossible, she may have walked out elevated even higher after dispatching Zingano so fast.

What is clear is that the UFC really has no one they can justify to match up against Rousey.  Rousey is at the point where she could likely defeat some of the men in the flyweight and bantamweight divisions.  The roster is completely bereft of anyone who can give her any type of fight, it seems.  In her last two title defenses, she has spent a total of 30 seconds fighting.

The UFC brass is really being left with no choice but to try and make a match between Rousey and 145 lb Invicta Champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino.  Justino is the only women who has shown a similar level of dominance over opposition as Rousey has, and she did it again this past weekend, defeating Charmaine Tweet in just 40 seconds with a string of punches that could have KO’d a mule.

Now, Justino is going to have to come down in weight to 135 lbs, there are no two ways about it.  The UFC will not send Rousey to another weight class.  Provided Justino can do that, then this fight must be inked immediately.  There has already been a load of politics and delay when it comes to making this fight, and the truth is that the UFC is out of options when it comes to matching Rousey.  More calls for Gina Carano to come out of retirement will be heard, but hey, what is good for the goose is good for the gander, right?  Carano was a notoriously bad maker of weight, failing to make 135 bs on multiple occasions while she was an active fighter.  And six years removed from being in competition, Carano is simply another 15-second Rousey showcase.  Time to give us Justino vs Rousey.
