Talk ‘n’ Shoot Boxing Podcast: Ranking The World’s Best Heavyweight Boxers

As we roll into August, the heavyweight boxing scene is getting very interesting.  WBC World Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder (34-0) has scheduled his next defense for Sept. 26 and he is set to face England’s Hughie Fury (16-0). This leaves Russia’s Alexander Povetkin, who is Wilder’s WBC mandatory opponent, sitting out in the cold waiting for his next opponent.

New Zealand prospect Joseph Parker (15-0) is coming off a first-round blitz of Australia’s Bowie Tupou (25-3) this past weekend, and he has quickly followed up by signing to fight Australian Kali Meehan (42-5) on Oct. 15.  The fight would serve to clearly establish Parker as the best boxer from that area of the world.  The Talk ‘n’ Shoot Podcast has named Parker the No. 2 overall prospect worldwide in the heavyweight division.

Talk ‘n’ Shoot’s number one rated heavyweight prospect, Britain’s Anthony Joshua (13-0) is on the schedule for Sept. 12 when he faces undefeated Gary Cornish (21-0) for the vacant Commonwealth Heavyweight title.  On the undercard of that bout will be Dillian Whyte, an undefeated heavyweight who won his Saturday bout with Brazil’s Ireneu Costa Junior by first round KO and owns a win over Joshua in the amateur ranks.  White has thrown his name in the hat as far as potential future opponents for Joshua, and you can look for the two of them to meet before the end of the year, as Joshua has signalled interst in the bout before moving into the step-up fights he must take in 2016.
