Bruschi Recovering Well After a Stroke and This Year’s Sleeper Teams

According to reports, Tedy Bruschi is recovering well after suffering a stroke on Thursday. Bruschi recognized that he was experiencing the warning signs of a stroke known as a TIA, and he was able to receive medical attention shortly afterward. This is the second time that Bruschi has dealt with a stroke. He suffered a stroke just three days after the New England Patriots won the Super Bowl back in 2005 and doctors discovered that Bruschi had a congenital heart defect. The Patriots and former teammate Julian Edelman were quick to show their support for Bruschi, and everyone is hoping for a speedy recovery.

NFL analyst Bucky Brooks has ranked the top sleeper teams coming into 2019, and it’s interesting to see the two teams that are prominently featured. For most of this decade, you could make the case that both the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers were perennially overrated. They never seemed to live up to expectations despite being among the favorites to win the Super Bowl every year, but a lot of people are down on both teams’ chances in 2019.

Two of the other teams on this list do look very good coming into this season though. The Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars both have manageable schedules, and most casual fans don’t seem to consider them real contenders. The Falcons should be much better after suffering a spate of injuries on the defensive side of the ball in 2018, while the Jaguars could be one of the top teams as long as they get good play from new quarterback Nick Foles.

Finally, it’s looking dicey that players that competed in the “40 Yards of Gold” television event will be paid. Players were originally told they would be paid the day of the event, but then they were given checks and instructed not to cash them until this Friday. Since then, they have been told not to cash those checks, making the prospect of receiving promised funds dubious at best.
