Texas A&M Allows Booze at Kyle Field and First-Year Coaches Ready to Rise

One of the reasons why college football is so beloved around the country is the festive atmosphere. Students and alumni come together to create a buzz on Saturdays in the fall, and that buzz will be felt in the stands as more schools move to allow alcohol sales in the stadium. Texas A&M is one of the latest major schools to give the green light to alcohol at home games.

The Aggies became the first school in the SEC to allow beer and wine to be sold during athletic events last week. The SEC only voted to lift a conference-wide ban on alcohol sales in public areas in May, and schools are already looking to capitalize. Texas A&M already has one of the boisterous fanbases in the nation, and they are sure to be even rowdier this season.

There are plenty of new coaches across college football this season, and the staff at Sports Illustrated has debated which one will have the biggest impact in 2019. Ohio State’s Ryan Day and Miami’s Manny Diaz have the most upside, while Dana Holgorsen could be the most fun after moving from West Virginia to Houston.

It was a Year Zero situation for Chip Kelly at UCLA last year. Kelly went with a youth movement early on in the season, and the Bruins bottomed out at 3-9. However, they did look improved over the course of the season, and Kelly is looking to turn things around in his second year.

Syracuse posted its first 10-win season since joining the ACC last year, and there is plenty of optimism coming into 2019. Dino Babers has turned the Orange into a team to be feared due to their lightning-quick tempo, so fans are ready to fill the Carrier Dome once more. Syracuse’s first home game this year will come against national champions Clemson.
