The Gronk Makes Cameo in You Can’t Have It

gronk
Okay, before I get to the movie, who went out of their chairs when the Gronk showed up at Wrestlemania?  Here is a clip:

Rob Gronkowski and WWE superstar Mojo Rawley have been friends for a long time, but it was a lot of fun when the New England Patriots star jumped into the ring to help Rawley win the Andre the Giant Battle Royal. Although I have to ask, did the female security guard who push Gronk back really know that he was supposed to be in the ring? She looked super serious. If it was part of the act, she really sold it very well. LOL
Looks like Gronk wants to get a career off the football field. In addition to his appearance at Wrestlemania, he makes an appearance in the movie thriller You Can’t Have It. This movie also  stars Armand Assante (Gotti), Joanna Krupa (Real Housewives of Miami), and Dominique Swain (Lolita). This is a tense thriller about a small-town bar’s final last call and one life-changing night of deception, betrayal, murder and infidelity.
The movie is produced and distributed by Skinfly Entertainment, in association with Daniel Lord Productions and Four Horseman Films. It hit a limited theatrical release on March 17, 2017, as well as Blu-ray, DVD, Digital HD and On Demand platforms.  It is also currently available on DirecTV, and consumers are able to watch the movie on ITunes Premium,  Amazon Prime  and Google Play.
“The day has come to see Joanna kick some major ass in this movie, and check Gronk!,” said Skinfly Entertainment President Lyle Howry, who also produced the film.
Now, to be honest, I usually watch every movie or television show before I write about it. However, I didn’t get a chance to watch this whole movie because of personal reasons. But from what I hear Gronk’s part is a minor one and he only has a few lines (blink-and-you’ll-miss-it kind of line). Unfortunately, the movie isn’t getting great reviews either.
The sad part about this is that Gronk is such a huge presence on the football field that I’m hoping he starts getting bigger roles in really good movies (and really only if he can act). You might say, ‘hey it’s a start,’ but if he wants to be serious in Hollywood, he needs to a) get an acting coach if he doesn’t already have one and b) choose better roles.  The Gronk’s other movie experiences was another beer-bonging cameo in Entourage. Saying yes to any role isn’t always going to move your forward. Instead, it just might catapult your career backwards.
I wish I knew what Gronk wanted when he finally decides to hang up his cleats. I also wouldn’t mind if he came back to the wrestling ring, because when he was in the ring his intensity just spewed out of him and I found myself belting out a “yeah!!!!!!” when he jumped over that barricade. If anything, if he is serious about Hollywood, he should find roles that cater to that side of his personality.
Perhaps he should study the careers of John Cena, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and David Michael “Dave” Bautista. Each of these WWE superstars created a successful career off the mat and on the movie screen. I’m not going to say that every role they received was great, but it’s what you make of it that counts. Gronk has a great following and a huge presence, so the potential is there for an after-football career. Whether or not it’s on the screen is still to be seen.
In addition to Howry (STREET, Wedding Day, Dog of Flanders), You Can’t Have It was written and executive produced by Daniel Finnerty (Saving Lincoln, The Last Treasure Hunt) and directed by André Gordon (Wedding Day, Only God Can).
