The Most Memorable Moments Of The Premier League Season So Far

Leicester City’s improbable Premier League title run will go down in history as one of the most unlikely underdog stories of all-time but it isn’t the only memorable aspect of this season that stands out. From a veteran superstar delivering a record performance in early October to the arrival of a pair of rising stars a few months later there were plenty of incredible performances that won’t be forgotten anytime soon. Here is a look at the five most memorable moments of the Premier League season so far.

Chelsea Falls To Crystal Palace

August 29th

Jose Mourinho’s 100th Premier League home game resulted in his second loss as Crystal Palace upset Chelsea in perhaps their most surprising defeat of the year so far. The defending champions had secured the league title the year before with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace a couple of months earlier. Chelsea had won 76 of its previous 99 home games and nobody expected them to drop that result in a game that made it clear they were in big trouble this season. Crystal Palace currently sits 16th in the table with 10 wins on the season and none was more unexpected than their win over the Blues on August 29th.

Aguero Shines In Lopsided Win Over Newcastle United

October 3rd

Manchester City might not win the Premier League title this season but it would be impossible to forget Sergio Aguero’s incredible performance in a 6-1 win over Newcastle United on October 3rd. Aguero scored five goals in just 20 minutes to stamp his name in the record books with goals in the 42nd, 49th, 50th, 60th and 62nd minutes before being substituted off in the 66th minute. Aguero had gone five straight games without a goal before breaking through in style and becoming just the fifth Premier League player ever to score five times in one game.

Dele Alli’s Winner Versus Crystal Palace

January 23rd

Tottenham will eventually fall short of winning the Premier League title but a runner-up finish is still a considerable feat considering the marked improvement they showed this year. Hotspurs fans will be disappointed with falling just short of a championship but they will have plenty of memorable moments to look back on this season including Dele Alli’s spectacular game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace. The game was tied 1-1 in the 84th minute when the 19-year-old flicked the ball over Mile Jedinak’s head, turned and delivered a perfect strike from 20 yards out that was impossible to stop. It has been an incredible season for Tottenham to this point and Alli’s spectacular goal stands out as one of the most memorable moments of the premier league season.

Jamie Vardy’s Performance In Win Over Liverpool

February 2nd

Leicester City has had plenty of incredible moments in one of the most spectacular underdog stories of all-time and one of the best of them happened on February 2nd when they secured a 2-0 win over Liverpool. The game was scoreless in the 60th minute when leading scorer Jamie Vardy delivered a brilliant one-time volley shot from distance in one of the prettiest goals of the year to give his side a 1-0 lead. Vardy added another goal later in the second half to seal the victory and move Leicester three points closer to becoming Premier League champions.

Martial Shines Versus Stoke City

February 2nd

Manchester United might not have had many memorable moments this season but one of them happened on the same night as Alli’s incredible goal when a 20-year-old striker delivered an exceptional performance in a 3-0 win over Stoke City. Anthony Martial provided a spark for United with a goal and an assist in the victory, sending notice to the rest of the league that he had arrived. Martial has two goals and eight assists through 26 appearances this Premier League season and he has only begun to tap in to his immense potential as a young star with a bright future.
