The Oscars: Betting Odds For The 90th Academy Awards

Oscars

The 90th Academy Awards are coming up this weekend and BetDSI Sportsbook has posted a whole host of betting lines on the glamorous gala. You can bet on everything from Jimmy Kimmel’s opening monologue to who’ll win in all of the major categories.

In terms of the Best Picture award, the oddsmakers are expecting either The Shape of Water (-115)

Or Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (-120) to earn the win. The latter, which is about a mother challenging the local police authorities to solver her daughter’s murder, has been a cult hit. The dramedy interweaves serious and comedic moments, which takes viewers through a range of emotions.

The movie’s lead, Frances McDormand, was spectacular as the lead protagonist, which is why she’s the unquestioned favorite to take home the award as best actress (-2000). Saoirse Ronan, Lady Bird (+600)

Sally Hawkins, The Shape of Water (+900), Margot Robbie, I, Tonya (+2500) and Meryl Streep, The Post (+4000) are also nominated but it would be a minor miracle if anyone but McDormand one. She won the Golden Globe and BAFTA Award for Best Actress, so that’s why there is the expectation that she’ll take home the golden statue.

On the men’s side of things, Gary Oldman is an event bigger favorite (-3500) to win the Best Actor award for his role in The Darkest Hour. He’s been nominated twice for an Oscar but didn’t come home with the win either time. His portrayal of Winston Churchill was impeccable, which is why he’s expected to come away with the award this time. Daniel Kaluuya, Get Out (+1000), Timothée Chalamet, Call Me By Your Name (+1200), Daniel Day-Lewis, Phantom Thread (+2000) and Denzel Washington, Roman J. Israel, Esq. (+2250) are the other nominees in the category. Judging by the betting odds, it will be tough for anyone other than Oldman to win.

See below for a full list of betting options for the 2018 Academy Awards. The 90th Oscar Awards ceremony will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and will take place on Sunday, March 4th.
