The Voice Recap: The Top 10 Perform

The Voice

In just a few weeks we’ll have winners of both American Idol and The Voice. Tomorrow night, two artists on The Voice will be sent packing, but tonight they are competing for their lives.

Kyla Jade (Team Blake) is up first and she’s singing one of my favorite songs lately, “This is Me,” from The Greatest Showman. I’m not kidding, I listen to it a lot. Look out cause here she comes. Perfect song choice for her. She hits those big Keala Settle notes.  Of course, the judges love her and Blake said, “I’m pretty sure you just punched your ticket for the semifinals.”

Team Kelly’s Kaleb Lee is up next singing “In the Boondocks.” He does a great job and even Adam said “You’re amazing,” and Kelly is ready to bounce out of her seat. Nice job Kaleb.

Next up is Jackie Verna (Team Adam) singing “Love Triangle,” by RaeLynn. Just in the practice, I hear her doing a great job with this song. Definitely in her wheelhouse. She killed it. Tonight is tough so far because they are all bringing their A game.

Rayshun LaMarr from Team Adam follows Jackie and is singing Grant Green. This is the best, in my opinion, that Rayshun has sounded and I feel like I’m watching a great performance from him. I love Adam’s face while Rayshun is performing.

Spensha Baker is crying because of Blake’s positive comments and is singing “Red” by Taylor Swift. She’s so dang pretty. I don’t understand why she’s nervous about singing this song. She’s doing a great job although I’m a little bored with the song. Of course, Blake says it’s her best performance on the show so far.

Jackie Foster is stepping out of her rocker chick side and toning it down a bit, singing “Gravity.” It was a great rendition and Alicia keeps saying “Wow, wow, wow.”

The finale is only TWO WEEKS AWAY! Up next to fight for a spot in the finale is Britton Buchanan. The 18-year-old is singing “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” that was once sung by Tina Turner. He’s slowing it down a bit and changing it up. I’m not a fan of the rendition, but I’m a creature of habit. He has a nice tone though.

Up next is Team Alicia’s Christiana Danielle, who was saved last week. She’s singing “Ain’t No Sunshine.” She sports a look that takes me back to a jazz club. Great vibe. She hit a little pitchiness at the end, but she did a great job.

My boy Pryor (Team Blake) is up next and is singing “My Town” by Montgomery Gentry. Pryor talks about how Bob Seger tweeted to him last week and said how he did a great job. And, yes, Pryor, this IS your town.

Rounding out the show is Brynn Cartelli from Team Kelly singing “Fix You” by Coldplay. I definitely see Brynn as a superstar after this show.

Who is favored?

Here are the contestants and my opinions about where they stand based on the original odds we gave:

Jackie Verna +150: Steady performer but tonight she really nailed the type of song that she should be singing in her career.

Pryor Baird +320 — Come on. ‘Nuff said.

Britton Buchanan +500 — He has a great fanbase so I think he’s going to be pushed through, although it wasn’t my favorite song from him.

Brynn Cartelli +720 — Great job. Should be an easy Top 8.

Rayshun LaMarr +1100 — I honestly think that this is Rayshun’s best performance of the competition for him.

Jackie Foster +1750 — Best performance of hers ever I think.

Spensha Baker +2500 — I really liked this performance, but I don’t think she’ll be in the Top 8.

Christiana Danielle +3500 — I loved her performance, but I also don’t think she’ll make the Top 8.

Kyla Jade +5000 — This week should be a no-brainer for her. She hit a homerun.

Kaleb Lee +5000 — Great performance and strong country base should push him through.
