The Calgary Flames opened the playoffs with a convincing 4-0 home win over the Colorado Avalanche and they have to thank their goalie Mike Smith who was phenomenal in the goal, making some out of this world saves.

Vrana on unbelievable fans
The reigning Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals began their defense of the title with a 4-2 home victory over the Carolina Hurricanes and left winger Jakub Vrana was full of praise for the fans after the game, saying they were like an extra player.

The Calgary Flames are the favorites to knock the Colorado Avalanche out of the opening round of the playoffs and they started well with a comfortable 4-0 win.

Carlson in the zone
Veteran defenseman John Carlson had a hand in three of his team’s goals in Washington’s win over Carolina. He recorded three assists, tying the NHL record for assists in a period.
