Top Posts on the Jets, Dwayne Haskins, and More

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets are back to their blundering ways. The Jets parted ways with former head coach Todd Bowles shortly after the conclusion of the 2018 season, and they made a huge splash in free agency. The front office spent big to acquire Le’Veon Bell and CJ Mosley, but just three weeks after the NFL Draft, ownership has decided to part ways with general manager Mike Maccagnan and Brian Heimerdinger. Only the Jets would let a front office splurge and then take all the guys they wanted in the draft, just to fire them weeks later.

We have heard nothing but rave reviews out of Washington in regards to rookie Dwayne Haskins. Owner Dan Snyder made no secret that Haskins was his guy prior to the NFL Draft, and the players and coaches have been gushing about him over the last few weeks. Haskins could start over veterans Colt McCoy and Case Keenum in Week 1.

Jamie Collins might be set to reunite with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick in New England. Collins was traded from New England to Cleveland three years ago, but he never made the impact the Browns were expecting after signing him to a large extension. He was cut by Cleveland in the offseason, so New England will probably be able to sign him for cheap.

Finally, one of the big stories last night was the New Orleans Pelicans winning the NBA Draft Lottery. It’s considered a given that the Pelicans will take Duke’s Zion Williamson with the No. 1 pick in the draft, and New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton is wondering whether or not the Pelicans would be willing to share. The thought of Williamson as a tight end or defensive end is terrifying, but Zion will probably never see the NFL despite his freakish mix of size and seed.
