The top three preseason rankings for DI women’s college volleyball are Nebraska, Texas, and Wisconsin

In the recently revealed AVCA preseason college volleyball rankings for 2022, Nebraska is ranked first. The Huskers defeat No. 2 Texas to win the game. Despite receiving 27 first-place votes to Nebraska’s 24, the Huskers ultimately outscored the Longhorns. Since 2016, Nebraska hasn’t topped the preseason poll. The current national champion Wisconsin is ranked third, followed by Louisville and Minnesota in the top five. Texas and Nebraska are quite evenly matched in terms of overall points.

The first three teams in the top 10 of the preseason AVCA poll are Kentucky, UCLA, and Purdue. After losing a significant portion of its core, Purdue probably experienced a significant decline. At Big Ten media days, Purdue head coach Dave Shondell mentioned this. Given the players they lost, he was aware that many people could be writing them off or abandoning them to begin the season. But he has a tremendous team of athletes in the gym, including those players who are now seasoned veterans headed by Emma Ellis, as well as a potent bunch of freshmen and names we may not yet be familiar with.
