Truax vs DeGale 2 Odds For Saturday’s Fight

Truax vs DeGale 2 Odds

Truax vs DeGale 2 Odds – Showtime Boxing returns this Saturday night with a pair of World Title fights sharing the co-featured billing.

The main event is a rematch as IBF super middleweight champion Caleb Truax (29-3-2) gives a rematch to James DeGale (23-2-1), the man he took the belt from this past December.

DeGale is a Brit who won an Olympic gold medal back in 2008. He won the IBF world title in the USA against Andre Dirrell and he defended the belt several times on the road, most notably against Lucien Bute in Canada and Badou Jack in the United States.

DeGale went 3-0-1 in fights outside of England and his return to the Isles against Truax was supposed to be just that, a “return” fight. DeGale was a major favorite but he came out flat and Truax broke through with a performance reminiscent of Jim Braddock. After twelve rounds the British judges showed no love to DeGale as he lost a Majority Decision.

DeGale deserves his rematch, but hopefully he takes it seriously. The facts behind his 3-0-1 record overseas is four fights that went the twelve round distance and there were times in all of those fights where DeGale could not find his gas tank. If the title loss was a wake up call for DeGale and he comes in good shape, he should be favored.

Truax is a hard worker who can be counted on to come in ready this Saturday. He fought his best fight last time out and it is likely that DeGale will come in more focused and ready than last time. Truax will be hungry to prove December was not a lucky day. The problem for Truax is he likely has to be better this time in order to win. This time, the odds are much tighter though DeGale is still favored to come out victorious.

At 154 pounds, Erislandy Lara and Jarrett Hurd meet to unite three of the four world titles in the weight class. This has all the makings of a torch passing fight.  Lara (25-2-2) is the decorated older champion facing the undefeated young gun in Hurd (21-0). Hurd may have hit on the format to beat Lara in his last outing when he stopped veteran Austin Trout.

Lara is going to be a superior technician in this one, but so was Trout. Hurd is a massive, long 154 pounder whose sheer physical attributes wore Trout out. He has to pressure Lara form start to finish. Lara holds the WBA and WBO titles and though Hurd is the IBF title holder, he has been flying under the radar. Lara would be his biggest win to date.

The live event at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino features eight fights in all. Below are the lines for the two title fights and the Sergio Mora vs Alfredo Angulo 8 rounder. A ten round fight between Super middleweight contenders Julian Williams (24-1-1) and Nathaniel Gallimore (20-1-1) might pop up at the books and on the Showtime broadcast.
