UFC 211 Under Card Odds

UFC 211 Under Card Odds For Saturday’s Fights – The UFC 211 event is set for the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas this Saturday May 13th after a three week hiatus and the UFC is coming to bat with 5 PPV fights and an additional 9 fights on the under card.

The main under card fight sees lightweights looking for redemption as Eddie Alvarez faces Dustin Poirier.

Alvarez is a former UFC lightweight champion and he is coming off losing his belt to Conor McGregor in his last outing. The loss came in the highest profile fight of Alvarez’s long career and it puts his record at 3-2 in the UFC. Now 33 years old, Alvarez is looking to prove that his last fight was not the results of him slowing down, but rather just some bad luck. Throughout his whole career, Alvarez has been known for his knockouts and his general explosiveness and in the McGregor fight he looked plodding and slow.

As for Poirier, his loss to McGregor came back in September of 2014 and he has gone a strong 5-1 since then. Poirier was stopped by McGregor in less than two minutes, but he moved up in weight and he seemed to adjust well to the lightweight division. He suffered a loss in September, 2016 loss to Michael Johnson where he was put out again in less than two minutes. He righted the ship with a win this past February against veteran Jim Miller. Poirier will want to protect his chin from the hard-hitting Alvarez, but the stocky former champion has had trouble in the past with longer, taller opponents. If Poirier comes in with a game plan to keep Alvarez at bay, he may be able to stay out the way of Alvarez’ big punches.

Also of note on the under card, is former World Series of Fighting stand out Dave Branch, who is making his UFC debut against Krzysztof Jotko. Jotko has a fine 6-1 UFC record and is coming in the favorite against Branch, who held the WSOF’s Light heavyweight and middleweight titles at the same time. Branch is riding a strong 10-fight winning streak that saw him defeat a lot of solid names, but the UFC is the big leagues and they are known for matching incoming champions from other organizations tough. This appears to be the case here as Jotko has a tougher-than-usual resume to go with practically no name recognition so Branch is being asked to put in hard work here.
