UFC 214 PPV Odds

UFC 214 PPV Odds For Saturday – The UFC 214 PPV comes to us live from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California this Saturday night, July 29th with a headline fight that sees Daniel Cormier defending his light heavyweight title against nemesis and former champion Jon Jones.

The fight is a rematch and Jones defeated the dangerous Cormier to retain his title the first time the two men met. Jones then was stripped and suspended for a myriad of personal problems including cocaine, steroids and car accidents and Cormier grabbed the title. Cormier is clearly the number two dog in the division as he has fought well with the belt but his title reign always sat under the shadow of Jones. He enters this fight as the defending champion and an underdog. That is not going to sit right with a competitor like Cormier and he has not been shy about calling Jones out.

Jones looks like a potential cross over star for the UFC and he has long talked about moving up to the heavyweight division. Recently, Jones went so far as to talk about a match-up with WWE and UFC star Brock Lesnar and that is a fight that would generate a boat-load of cash. If Jones does not fall short against Cormier he will likely be the next of the UFC’s crossover stars and a match with Lesnar will likely come to pass. What makes Jones different and unique when compared to Conor McGregor or Ronda Rousey is that he is a heavyweight and that type of appeal has not been seen in the UFC. All Jones has to do is win Saturday and stay clean.

UFC 214 PPV Odds For Saturday

The recent UFC 213 card held on July 8th sold roughly 200,000 pay-per-views which is real low. The return of Jones assures that won’t be the case for this card but the UFC is making sure by offering a stacked card.

Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley defends his title against jiu-jitsu expert Damian Maia in an interesting match-up of contrasts. Woodley is an explosive athlete while maia is a technician who relies on technique rather than physicality.

Former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler returns to face Donald Cerrone. Lawler has been inactive since losing his title to Woodley and that layoff will be two days short of a year by the time he faces Cerrone. Cerrone was on a solid four fight winning streak before losing his last outing to Jorge Masvidal.

The card also sees Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino back in the octagon as she faces off against Tonya Evinger in the 145 pound featherweight division. It is a good thing that the UFC stopped tortutring “Cyborg” and opened the 145 pound women’s weight class. Evinger held the Invicta title at 145 pounds for a long time before comiing over to the UFC and she has won 10 fights in a row, not losing since July of 2011.
