UFC 214 Undercard Odds

UFC 214 Undercard Odds For Saturday – The UFC 214 PPV is this weekend and the undercard action is set to air on FOX and on the UFC’s Fight Pass this Saturday night. The undercard features a pair of featherweight bouts in the feature slots as Ricardo Lamas returns to face Jason Knight and former bantamweight champion Renan Barao takes on Renato Carneiro.

Lamas (17-5) has been with the UFC going on five years and he started off on a hot streak, winning four fights to earn a shot at top gun Jose Aldo. He took Aldo the five-round distance but lost and he has gone 4-2 since then. The two losses have come at the hands of perennial top contender Chad Mendes and Max Holloway, who currently hold a piece of the 145-pound world title, so the losses have come to high-level guys. Lamas last fought in November of last year when he stopped Charles Oliveira with a guillotine choke. Looking to keep rising in the rankings with a win over Lamas this Saturday is unsung Jason Knight (20-2). Knight entered the UFC with a loss to Japanese veteran Tatsuya Kawajiri but he has reeled off four wins in a row since. Lamas is trying to build momentum again while Knight is looking to make it five wins in a row.

Renan Barao is 34-4 overall and he had a dominant run as bantamweight champion before he lost the belt to TJ Dillashaw back in May of 2014. Since then Barao has been wildly inconsistent, going 2-2 in his next four fights. He also struggled with making the 135-pound limit, so this match is at a catchweight. In Aljamain Sterling he will be facing a top-notch athlete who is also looking to regain momentum. Sterling entered the UFC and promptly won four fights in a row, but he then dropped two in a row against heightened competition. He won an April match-up against Augusto Mendes, putting him in the same boat as Barao. These are two men looking to start a winning streak after facing adversity.

Also of note is the appearance of former WSOF top gun Josh Burkman, as he returns to face Drew Dober in what is expected to be the first fight of the evening. He left the WSOF to join the UFC and he has basically gone 1-6 since then (he had one loss turned to a No Contest when opponent Hector Lombard tested positive for steroids).  A loss for Burkman will likely bring his UFC career to a close and he is trying his hand here as a lightweight after a career spent in the welterweight division. Dober may not be fighting for his job, but then again with a maudlin 3-4 with 1 no contest, he has not been climbing the rankings. Here, Dober is coming of a December of 2016 loss to Olivier Aubin-Mercier that saw him tap to a rear naked choke.
