Miocic vs NGannou Odds

UFC 220 Miocic vs NGannou Odds – The UFC 220 comes to us live from Boston on PPV this Saturday night with two title fights at the top of the card. Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic will defend his belt against fast rising Francis N’Gannou, while Light Heavyweight titlist Daniel Cormier faces the challenge of Volkan Oezdemir.

At 17-2, this match will be Miocic’s  third title defense and he must be feeling like he gets little respect.

In N’Gannou he is facing a fighter who is 11-1 overall and on an impressive 10 fight winning streak. He has gone 6-0 since jining the UFC roster and in his last outing he flattened perrenial contender Alistair Overeem in the opening round. The KO of Overeem put N’Gannou’s hype meter over the top and it sees him listed as a favorite at the sports books.

But Miocic won the belt over jiu-jitsu stud Fabricio Werdum back in May of 2016. He owns his own first round knock out of Alistair Overeem and in his most recent title defense he stopped former belt-holder Junior Dos Santos. The win over Dos Santos avenged his last loss, which came in December of 2014. He has ended all of his title fights in the first round.

Look over the past holders of the UFC’s heavyweight title and you realize Miocic is on the cusp of history. There have been a lot of champions and many, from Lesnar to Cain Velasquez to Tim Sylvia have defended the belt twice. A successful defense will make Miocic the only heavyweight champion to make three successful defenses.

Talk about a champ getting no respect, we present light heavyweight kingpin Daniel Cormier. Last time we saw him in the ring he lost his light heavyweight belt to rival Jon Jones. Jones once again fell from grace because of PEDs and the belt was returned to Cormier. Cormier is officially 19-1 after Jones’ suspension wiped the loss off his record. The only official loss on his record? To Jones as well, so Cormier will never avoid the impression that he is the second guy in the division behind Jones.

Here Cormier is being asked to start putting in the work. Volkan Oezdemir is 15-1 overall and 5-0 in the UFC and that earned him this title shot. Unfortunately for Cormier, Volkan is not a big name and his best win in the UFC thusfar came against Brit Jimi Manuwa.

Cormier enters a strong favorite, and after Volkan, it will be on to the next opponent for him. He has no choice but to put his head down and fight and try to forget about “Bones” Jones. Clean out the division is his only choice.

The UFC’s pay-per-view numbers are down. Cormier and Miocic are solid fighting champions but these are the weight classes where Jon Jones and Brock Lesnar have operated and this card is unlikely to attract anywhere near 1 million PPV buys. Below are the current odds for the PPV portion of the card.
