UFC Fight Night 90 Main Event Odds For July 7

UFC Fight Night 90 Main Event Odds

UFC Fight Night 90 Main Event Odds – This Thursday the UFC kicks off their biggest week ever on Thursday, July 7th with Fight Night 90.

The main event of the card features UFC lightweight (155 lbs) champion Rafael Dos Anjos (25-7) defending his title against Eddie Alvarez (27-4). Dos Anjos is on a strong five fight winning streak that has seen him grab the belt from Anthony Pettis and then defend it once with a 66 second KO of the popular Donald Cerrone. That fight was in December of last year and Dos Anjos has not fought since. An eight-month layoff is not extreme though Dos Anjos was slated to defend his belt against Conor McGregor, but he had to pull out of that fight with an injury and he was replaced by Nate Diaz, a  man he beat back in December of 2014. Losing that payday is certainly going to have an effect on Dos Anjos, and that will have an effect on Dos Anjos. Whether it is a positive effect or a negative effect remains to be seen.

UFC Fight Night 90 Main Event Odds

In Alvarez, Dos Anjos is meeting a fighter who remains hungry even after more than 30 career fights. Alvarez has been with the UFC for just three fights and he has gone 2-1, but look who he has fought – Gilbert Melendez, Anthony Pettis and Donald Cerrone.

One thing to consider is this – it is almost impossible to become an MMA star without being in the UFC, but Alvarez did it with a dominant, fight-friendly style that he combines with a great work ethic and support from his native Philadelphia. Alvarez has shown an “x” factor or an intangible throughout his fight career and it is that he is a winner. Yes, he has lost in his long career, but even those losses have been close or even been avenged. When Alvarez was 20 he had the goal of being a UFC champion, and now that he is 32, he is finally in a position to make it happen. Most of Philadelphia will be happy Alvarez is a more than 3 to 1 dog in this one.

UFC Fight Night 90 Main Event Odds

The co-feature bout comes in the Heavyweight division as surging Derrick Lewis (15-4), who has won three in a row, gets to step up to face Roy “Big Country” Nelson (21-12). Nelson is cat in the role of the “doorman” to the top of the division for Lewis, who is 6-2 in the UFC but has no opponent on his resume like Nelson. In his last fight, he fought Gabriel Gonzaga who has a similar number of fights as Nelson but does not have the high profile that Nelson has.

THE UFC 90 card is part of the biggest week in UFC history as Friday, July 8th sees the Finals of the Ultimate Fighter season 23 card go down, followed by Saturday, July 9th’s massive UFC 200 event. Check back later for more TNS blogs on the odds for those shows as well.
