The UFC’s next offering, FIGHT NIGHT 47, is scheduled for August 17th in Bangor, Maine and it is a rare UFC in that no match on the card is more than a 3 to 1 underdog.  the main event sees Ryan Bader a tight (-1600 favorite over Ovince St Preux, and the rest of the card gets odds no higher than between Gray Maynard (-280) over Fabricio Camoes (+240) and Zach Makovsky (-280) over Jussier Formiga (+240).

The main card features a near pick ’em bout as England’s Ross Pearson sits at (+100) against Abel Trujillo, who is a slight favorite at (-120).  Pearson is coming off a split decision loss to Diego Sanchez.  He needs a win to start up the momentum he lost in the fight prior, when his match with now departed Melvin Guillard ended with a NC.

Pearson is a bit of a step up in opponents for Trujillo, who has built up a 2 fight stoppage streak after experiencing his own NC against Roger Bowling.  Nonetheless, Trujillo is probably going to be too big and strong for Pearson and should win if he does not tire over the course of the match.

One of the wider lines on the under-card belongs to the ladies match between Sara McMann and Lauren Murphy. McMann (-270) is favored over Lauren Murphy, who returns (+230).  McMann is still one of the best prospects in the women’s weight classes.  She is raw, but comes from an Olympic wrestling background where he credentials are every bit the equal of Ronda Rousey.   Unfortunately for her, she was not ready for Rousey, and she ate a knee about a minute in that ended the fight.  This match is the first step in her return.  If she is able to gain experience at put together a few wins, she could be back in the title picture.  Her opponent, Lauren Murphy, is a perfect 8-0 but is making her UFC debut.  On paper alone, the rugged Murphy might be a good underdog pick.

Shawn Jordan (-190) is favored in his Heavyweight match-up over Jack May (+165).  Jordan a former collegiate football standout has registered 2 losses in a row in the UFC, where he may have found his ceiling like he did in football.  His losses to Gabriel Gonzaga and Matt Mitrione are not exactly to world beaters.  Jordan’s back is to the wall, and he gets Jack May to try and get a win.  May is 0-1 in the UFC
