For just the third time since the UFC was created in 1993, the promotion heads to Washington for an outdoor fight card staged on the White House’s South Lawn. The event is being held in a custom-built, open-air arena on the South Lawn.
The main event features lightweight champion Ilia Topuria against interim titleholder Justin Gaethje to unify the belts. Topuria, 17-0 and ranked No. 2 on ESPN’s pound-for-pound list, puts his unblemished record on the line, according to ESPN.
In the co-main event, former light heavyweight and middleweight champion Alex Pereira seeks to become the UFC’s first three-division titleholder. Pereira faces Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight championship.
Gane returns to the Octagon for the first time since his undisputed title fight with Tom Aspinall, a bout that was ruled a no-contest after an incidental eye poke on Aspinall.
ESPN MMA contributors are providing breakdowns and analysis of the action from UFC Freedom 250 at the White House, according to ESPN.
