Utah Jazz vs. Brooklyn Nets Betting Prediction

The Jazz are hoping to rebound after not being able to cover as 4.5-point favorites in their 121-88 loss to the Indiana Pacers in their last game. The total points for the game (209) were just over the O/U total of 206.5. Indiana made nine of their 18 three pointers (50.0 percent). Utah, meanwhile, was 8-31 (25.8 percent). Derrick Favors was Utah’s high scorer with 13 points on 6-for-9 shooting.

In the Nets’ previous game, they dropped a tough one against the Philadelphia 76ers, 127-125, but did cover as 4.5-point underdogs. The combined points for the game (252) came in well over the projected point total of 225.5. Philadelphia’s turnover percentage was their largest strength over Brooklyn. The 76ers had a rate of 7.9 (better than their season average of 13.8), while the Nets posted a mark of 14.2 (above the 10.3 mark opponents have averaged against Philadelphia this season). Brooklyn’s D’Angelo Russell had a solid game, leading both teams in scoring with 38 points on 16-for-28 shooting.

Half-court execution will be of utmost importance when a pair of the league’s slowest-paced teams face off. Brooklyn currently ranks 22nd in possessions per game (101.6) and Utah is 23rd (101.4). Additionally, the Jazz are among the league’s best at getting to the line, ranking fourth in free throw attempt (FTA) rate (0.236). The Nets, meanhwile, rank 28th at keeping opponents off the charity stripe with an opponents’ FTA rate of 0.241.

Utah comes into the contest with records of 9-12 straight up (SU) and 9-12 against the spread (ATS). Vegas has a tendency to place the total low when the Jazz are involved, as 66.7 percent of their games have finished over the total.

Meanwhile, Brooklyn owns records of 8-13 SU and 10-11 ATS. A little over half of Nets games have finished over the O/U total.

Spencer Dinwiddie has averaged 18 points,7.4 assists over the last five games for Brooklyn.

After splitting two games last season, these teams will clash for the first time this year. In the most recent game, the Nets won 118-107. The Nets’ 11.5 turnover percentage was their biggest advantage over the Jazz, who had a rate of 15.2.
