The Aggies had a much better offensive rebounding percentage (44.4 vs. 12.5) and had a better turnover percentage (13.0 vs. 16.1). Utah State rallied around Sam Merrill, who was the game’s high scorer with 37 points on 12-for-18 shooting.
In the Cougars’ previous game, they lost to the No. 7 Nevada Wolf Pack, 86-70. Getting to the free throw line was one of Nevada’s biggest strengths. They had 39 free throw attempts, while BYU had just 19. BYU’s Yoeli Childs put up 16 points and 12 rebounds in the contest.
