VfL WOLFSBURG

The VfL Wolfsburg team got in trouble in the last couple of weeks in the German Bundesliga as they’ve managed to lose three out of their last four games. The result of that is a big slide in the German Bundesliga table (33 points in 30 games) and now they rank 14th with only one point more than FC Augsburg who ranks below the relegation line. Things are not looking good now because their next match-up is against the defending champions and current leaders Bayern Munich.

FC BAYERN MUNICH

The Bayern Munich team received another blow on Wednesday as they got eliminated in the DFB Pokal semifinal game in front of their own crowd at Allianz Arena by the biggest rivals, Borussia Dortmund, 2:3. Dortmund looked poised from the beginning and Marco Reus scored an opener after 19 minutes of play before Javier Martinez equalized in 28th minute.

Bayern turned the things over completely before the half-time as Mats Hummel scored four minutes before the rest. In second half Borussia’s players outplayed the Munich team and with two scores by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ousmane Dembele secured the trip to Berlin where they’ll face Eintracht Frankfurt at Olympiastadion DFB Pokal finale. Despite the recent flops in the Cup and Champions League, Bayern is still unchallenged in the German Bundesliga and they are lonely at the top of the table with 70 points in 30 games (eight more than second ranked RB Leipzig).

They are 5-2-1 in the last eight games and 2-1-1 in the last four road games in the German Bundesliga campaign. VfL Wolfsburg vs. FC Bayern Munich – Match Prediction

Bayern Munich won 11 of last 13 match-ups against WfL Wolfsburg with one draw and only one win going the other way. Most recent Wolfsburg’s victory occurred on January 30th, 2015 when the Wolfs outplayed the Bavarian team with 4:1 at the Volkswagen Arena. Munich scored 33 goals opposing Wolfsburg’s nine during this stretch and 53.8% of those matches had over 2.5 goals in total.

First match-up of this season went Bayern’s way, 5:0 at the Allianz Arena. Wolfsburg needs the points desperately and it’s hard to predict how the Munich team will respond after another midweek disappointment but one thing is for sure and that’s the fact that games between these two teams almost always go over in goals and that’s where I would put my money on. Therefore, I am taking the Over 3.5 goals which is offered at -103 and I am also taking the both teams to score, offered at -111.

My Pick: Over 3.5 goals in total (-103)

Additional Pick: Both teams to score YES (-111)
