Villanova Wildcats at Kansas Jayhawks Betting Preview 12/15/18

The No. 17 Villanova Wildcats (8-3) travel to No. 1 Kansas to play the Jayhawks (8-0) in a game that has the potential to be high-scoring. The game starts at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, December 15, 2018, and will air on ESPN.

The last time the Wildcats played, they thoroughly outplayed the Morgan State Bears, 100-77. The Wildcats had a much better free throw rate (0.299 vs. 0.085) and had a much better offensive rebounding percentage (44.4 vs. 25.6). With 26 points on 7-for-11 shooting, Eric Paschall was the top scorer from either team.

The Jayhawks defeated the No. 10 Michigan State Spartans in their last outing, 92-87. Kansas’ 11.6 turnover percentage was their biggest strength over Michigan State, who had a mark of 19.5. With 20 points, 14 rebounds and six assists, Kansas’ Dedric Lawson had a good game.

The Wildcats won the lone contest against the Jayhawks last season, 95-79. Villanova made 18 of its 40 three pointers (45.0 percent). Kansas, meanwhile, did a fantastic job of making free throws (16-20; 80.0 percent).

It might turn into a shootout as two of the nation’s premier offenses go head-to-head. Kansas ranks 25th with 115.8 points per 100 possessions and Villanova is 57th (121.7) dating back to the 2017-18 season. Also, the Wildcats have been among the country’s best on the offensive backboards, ranking 58th in offensive rebounding percentage (30.6 percent). The Jayhawks, meanwhile, rank 262nd at corralling defensive rebounds with a defensive rebounding percentage of 69.7 percent.
