The Voice: Top Live 12 Performances

The Voice

The Top 12  performed live on this week’s The Voice as we get closer to the crowning the winner.

Here are the Top 12 if you need a reminder, along with the song they chose and my comments. The contestants are not listed in the order of their performances, but rather in the order of my favorite performances of the night.

Kyla Jade: Sang”One Night Only,” which is Jennifer Hudson’s song and she used to sing backup for Jennifer. I honestly feel like I’m watching the Kyla Jade concert and it’s closing out the show. Fantasmic!

Pryor Baird: One of my favorites in this competition, Pryor Baird sang “Pickin’ Wildflowers.” Needless to say, I loved it.

Brynn Cartelli sang “Up to the Mountain.” She absolutely nailed it. It was one of my favorite performances of the night. (Team Kelly)

Kaleb Lee: Singing “Amazed. I like this song for him and not just because it’s a country song, but his tone is really nice. (Team Kelly)

Britton Buchanan: Sang “Small Town.” I really liked this version of this song and he looks like a young John Mellencamp here too. (Team Alicia)

Spensha Baker: Sang “Down on My Knees,” and talked about singing country music and crying. I really liked her performance; it seems better than in rehearsals. (Team Blake)

Jackie Verna: Sang “I’m With You.” The rehearsals sounded amazing, so it’s obvious that Jackie nails this. (Team Adam)

Christiana Danielle: Sang”Say Something,” about fear being a nuisance in her life. She’s letting it go and has no more fear. I love her tone in this song. I’m not crazy about the song itself because of its repetitive nature, but she does this really pure rendition of it.

Jackie Foster: Sang “Toxic,” as an homage to her band. She comes out in a box, but it seems a little awkward. Her vocal was good, but she seems a little off in this performance. Kelly called it sexy and Alicia said that she nailed it. Adam said it’s rare that someone has it all and she does. (Team Alicia)

D.R. King: Saved by Kelly last week, D.R King sang  “White Flag.” I’m not in love with this rendition. Sorry D.R. I think he can sing, but I don’t think this is doing anything for him. (Team Kelly)

Sharane Calister: Sang “In My Blood” by Shawn Mendes, and unfortunately I wasn’t impressed. While she did a great job on the high notes, the rest of the song left a little to be desired. (Team Adam)

Rayshun LaMarr: Sang “When Love Takes Over” — I agree with Adam that he can sound sharp at times, but has a James Brown-esque about him. I’m not crazy about this performance though. He sounds like he’s screaming, but Adam, however, is cheering his ass off. Says that Rayshun is a front-runner. (Team Adam)
