Volvo China Open DFS Lineup

The European Tour will head to Beijing, China for a tri-sanctioned event in the Volvo China Open this week. The homegrown contingent has dominated at this event in each of the last two years. However, while we locked in a couple of fan favorites including the defending champion Li Haotong, we definitely feel it’s wise to include some of the top European options as well.

Taking a look at the updated European Tour standings, Sergio Garcia is in the top spot with 2,440,596 points in the Race for Dubai. He’s followed by Tommy Fleetwood of England and Jon Rahm of Spain. Justin Rose of England and Ross Fisher – also of England – round out the Top 5.

With that in mind, here is a look at our optimal lineup for the DraftKings EPGA fantasy competitions this week.

Fabrizio Zanotti, $9,900

Zanotti has recorded two wins on the European Tour including one just a couple of months ago at the Maybank Championship in Malaysia. Zanotti has bee fairly consistent including a T-5th at the Shenzhen International event in China last week. A year ago, Zanotti followed up a 16th place finish at the Shenzhen with a T-8th at the China Open. If he can produce a similar result this week then he will be worth the investment as our top pick at under $10K. Zanotti has the tools to contend for the outright win this week so we will put our money down on him to produce a strong showing in DraftKings fantasy competitions.

Alexander Levy, $9,400

Levy already has three European Tour victories to his name, including the 2014 Volvo China Open. Already one of the most accomplished players in this week’s field, the fact that Levy has had some success at this event makes him an even stronger pick. With two top-10 finishes in his last three starts, Levy is also in excellent form heading in to this week’s tournament. At under $10K, Levy should be a lock as value pick in most lineups.

Li Haotong, $9,100

The defending China Open champion delivered an absolutely dominant performance at this event last year and we are expecting a similar result this time around. The fact that he is available at just over $9K makes him that much more appealing in DraftKings competitions. He might not win this tournament for the second year in a row but a strong performance should be in the cards with Li projected to finish in the top-10 once again as a homegrown favorite.

Peter Ulhlein, $8,300

Ulhlein is another European Tour member with an excellent track record at Asian events. Ulhlein is also coming in to this tournament with a little momentum on his side after recording top-20 finishes in six of his last 11 starts overall. At $8.3K, Ulhlein is priced just low enough to fit him in to our DraftKings lineup without having to break the bank.

Gregory Havret, $6,700

The Frenchman Havret has been hanging on to his European Tour status by a thread, as he currently sits no. 395 in the Official World Golf Ranking. However, the danger of falling any further has provided motivation and a sense of urgency for Havret, who has produced three top-20 finishes in his last five starts. Havret could be in line for another strong performance this week and at just $6.7K, we are comfortable taking a chance on him as a strong value option in DraftKings tournaments.

Julien Quesne, $6,500

Quesne’s low price tag and high upside make him the perfect option to round out our DraftKings lineup for this week. After finally breaking out of a four-week slump with a T-33 last week, the Frenchman has the potential to build off last week’s result with another quality performance. Quesne’s recent struggles have resulted in his price tag dropping about $1K lower than it should be. He should be a strong value pick in DraftKings fantasy competitions this week. We aren’t necessarily expecting him to win the event this week but we would like to see him make the cut and make a push for the Top 25. That’s all we’re asking at this price.
