Washington Capitals vs. Winnipeg Jets Odds

Earning moneyline bettors 2.1 units, the Jets are 10-6 straight up (SU) overall thus far. That winning percentage, the NHL’s fourth-best so far this season, is fairly close to what the team produced during last year’s regular season (52-30). Out of its 16 regular season matches, eight of them have gone under the total, while five have gone over and three have pushed. This season, the team’s 7-3 SU at home.

Winnipeg currently touts the second-best power-play unit in the NHL, as it has found the net on 34.0 percent of their extra-man chances this season. On the other hand, its penalty kill is ranked 15th overall, and it’s successfully killed off 81.0 percent of all penalties.

Winnipeg, as a collective unit, has been penalized 4.7 times per game overall this season, 5.0 per game over its past five contests total, and 4.2 per game over its last five home outings. The team’s had to kill penalties for 12.8 minutes per game over its last five home outings.

Averaging 29.5 saves per game with a .912 save percentage, Connor Hellebuyck (seven wins, six losses, and one OT loss) has been the top option in goal for the Jets this season. If they decide to give him a breather, however, it could roll with the undefeated Laurent Brossoit (3-0 record, .957 save percentage, 1.67 goals against average).

Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele will each be focal points for the Jets. Wheeler (23 points) is up to three goals and 20 assists and has recorded multiple points five times this year. Scheifele has nine goals and 10 assists to his name and has notched at least one point in 10 games.

Washington has lost 4.8 units for bettors taking the moneyline this year and is currently 8-9 straight up (SU). Nine of its matches have gone over the total, while six have gone under the total and just one has pushed. As an away team this season, Washington is 3-4 SU.

Washington has converted on 30.4 percent of its power play opportunities this year, a mark that’s good enough for fourth-best in the NHL. On the other hand, its penalty kill unit is ranked 27th overall and it’s successfully defended 72.7 percent of all penalties.

Washington’s players have been called for penalties 4.3 times per game this season, 4.6 per game over their last five games total, and 4.6 per game over their last five games as the visiting team. The team’s had to kill penalties 8.5 minutes per game over their last 10 outings.

Braden Holtby (27.8 saves per game) has been the primary choice in goal for Washington. Holtby has five wins, eight losses, and three OT losses to his credit, while registering a .900 save percentage and 3.24 goals against average this year.

Evgeny Kuznetsov (six goals, 15 assists) has been one of the most vital offensive facilitators for the visiting Capitals.
