Washington Redskins – New York Giants

The Washington Redskins will travel to play the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium this week. This game is equally important for New York (4-9) and Washington (3-10), as they both enter this game in search of a much-needed win. The game kicks off Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET and can be seen on FOX.

New York and Washington last met in Week 4, when the Giants put in another dominant performance and beat the Redskins 45-14. New York has won three straight against the Redskins, dating back to the 2013 season. Larry Donnell had a good outing in the last game against the Redskins, recording seven catches for 54 yards and three TDs. Eli Manning had a big game as well, totaling 300 yards and four TDs through the air. Keenan Robinson led the way for the Washington defense, totaling 13 tackles and one interception. Alfred Morris was a factor as well, totaling 63 yards and a TD on 12 attempts.

New York is a six-point favorite in this game and the Over/Under (O/U) is set at 43 points. Heading into Week 15 of league action, the Giants are 4-9 Straight Up (SU) and 5-8 Against The Spread (ATS). Over their last five games, the Giants have records of 1-4 SU and 2-3 ATS. When teams pass the ball against the Redskins, they do so with authority. New York hopes to take advantage of a defense that allows 11.9 yards per pass during road games, 26th in the NFL. Recently, New York’s pass defense has wreaked havoc on its opponents. During their last five games, the Giants gave up 179.4 passing yards per game. If the Giants want to win this game, they should punish Washington’s quarterback. That shouldn’t be too difficult with the Redskins ranking 31st in sacks allowed with 3.5 per game. New York can probably take advantage of the fact that the Redskins are one of the worst in the league at keeping points off the board in the fourth quarter of road games, allowing an average of 8.9 points. On average, the Redskins earn 7.5 flags each game, one of the worst rates in the league. Such errors could be beneficial for the Giants if they persist into this week’s game.

On the other side, the Redskins have 3-10 SU and 4-9 ATS records this season. Over their last five games, the Redskins have a SU record of 0-5 and a 1-4 record ATS for those betting with them. If earlier games are any indication, the Redskins will throw the ball a lot on offense. They average 276 passing yards per road game, good enough for fifth in the NFL. Over the last five games, the Redskins turned it up on the defensive side of the football, only allowing an average of 94.2 rushing yards per game. The Redskins need to capitalize on takeaway opportunities against the turnover-inclined Giants, who lead the league in turnovers with 2.3 per home game. The Giants defense usually doesn’t head in the right direction in the third quarter of home games. They allow 9.8 points heading out of the break this year, one of the worst in the league.

Predictions: SU Winner – NYG, ATS Winner – NYG, O/U – Over
