Weekend Boxing Odds for January 22 and 23

Weekend Boxing Odds

Weekend Boxing Odds – The sport books have put up a handful of last minute Boxing Odds for the weekend of January 22nd and 23rd.  Of course the big attention-getter in the boxing world this weekend is Saturday’s Premier Boxing Champions card set to air on FOX from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Check out our video blog on the Odds for the Staples Center main events, including the Danny Garcia vs Robert Guerrero WBC World Welterweight title bout.

Weekend Boxing Odds for Jan 22 (Friday)

York Hall in London has an eight-fight boxing card promoted by Frank Warren that features two regional title fights getting attention at the sport books.  The BBBofC Featherweight title will be defended for the first time by Ryan Walsh (19-1-1) as he faces undefeated Darren Traynor (11-0).  Walsh would appear to be further ahead of the curve than Traynor, as his lone loss comes after twelve rounds with current world titleholder Lee Selby.  This is a huge step up in competition for Traynor, who is making his first bid for a pro title.

Also at York Hall, the vacant IBF International Super Welterweight belt will be contested between undefeated Ahmet Patterson (16-0) and Ryan Aston (18-2-2).  Patterson is moving up to Super Welterweight after capturing a British title as a Welterweight, while Alston has fought mostly at Super Middleweight.  Alston has two regional title bids on his record, one at Middleweight and the other at Super Welterweight, and those were both of his losses.

On Friday night in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, an eight-round Lightweight bout is getting attention at the sport books, as Jonathan Macielo (22-2) takes on Samuel Amoako (21-5).   The bout takes place at the Sheet Metal Workers Hall and is part of a scheduled seven fight boxing card promoted by Will Ruiz and his “Hard Hitting Promotions”.  Also on the card is a second Lightweight bout between Angel Luis Ocasio (8-0-2) and Reynaldo Blanco (9-2) for the vacant WBA USA Lightweight title which could also get attention at the books as we approach fight time.

Weekend Boxing Odds for Jan 23 (Saturday)

The main event at the Palenque Fex in Mexicali, Mexico features Super Lightweights Jose Zepeda (23-1) taking on Ammeth Diaz (32-12).

In Guadalupe, Mexico, two of the bouts scheduled for the Domo Care have lines up at the sport books, as Adrian Estrella (24-1) takes on Alfonso Perez (11-7)  and, in welterweight action, Carlos Molina (23-6-2) takes on Jose Agustin Feria (20-2-1).

New Zealand’s top Heavyweight prospect Joseph Parker (17-0) travels to Samoa to headline the stadium in his ancestral home.  Parker, who is just 24 years old, is set for big things in 2016, but the fight in Samoa will be huge on the island country.  Veteran Jason Bergman (25-11-2) represents the opposition.  Parker is defending a pair of regional WBO belts against Bergman, who has won two fights in a row.  Bergman’s record is 16-2 over his last 18 fights, so a lot of the losses on his record came earlier on in his career.

All of the new lines at the sport book are wide lines with heavy favorites, as boxing matchmakers at times appear to ignore the word “competition”.
