Weekend Boxing Odds: Kell Brook Defends Title Against Frankie Gavin

Promoter Eddie Hearn returns to England to host a big card featuring three world title fights this weekend. In addition, Spike TV will be airing “Premier Boxing Champions” from the Barclay’s Center in New York.

In the UK, Kell Brook defends his IBF World Welterweight title against fellow countryman Frankie Gavin in the evening’s main event.  Brook is on the verge of big things in the welterweight division.  This is his second title defense since winning the belt from American Shawn Porter as an underdog, and at (34-0) his name is starting to emerge alongside Manny Pacquiao, Juan Manuel Marquez and Floyd Mayweather as he targets big money fights after this one.

Lee Selby faces Evgeny Gradovich for the russian fighter’s IBF World Featherweight title and Kevin Mitchell faces Jorge Linares for Linares’ WBC World Lightweight title.  However, most eyes are on the heavyweight fight featuring Britain’s undefeated Olympic gold-medal winning Anthony Joshua as he faces his toughest challenge to date in veteran Tony Thompson.

In “Premier Boxing Champions” card, Amir Khan enters as the favorite over Chris Algieri. That card also features the WBA Super Featherweight World title fight between Javier Fortuna and Bryan Vasquez.  The undercard light heavyweight fight between undefeated prospect Marcus Browne and Cornelius White (21-3) was also just added at the sport books.

And in the latest video blog, we review the last minute boxing lines added at the sport books for the weekend of May 30th.
