Welcome Home, Luke Voit: Yankees Slugger Goes Yard

Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

A trade that looks increasingly lopsided netted the New York Yankees their latest slugger, Luke Voit. The St. Louis-area native returned to his home state this weekend and hit an absolute bomb against the Kansas City Royals. It was measured at 471 feet. Elsewhere, there were even more meaningful hits, with the Astros and Angels both winning via walk-offs. Then comes the cute section of our program. Clayton Kershaw’s son is the only one allowed to bat-flip on his dad, and the birds played a big role in the Marlins broadcast.

It’s the other side of Missouri, but the Yankees’ Luke Voit still had plenty of fans from home cheering him on as he hit this moonshot.

The Astros clinched the season series against the Red Sox (and they used a five-game joke!) and the Angels salvaged a game in which they had blown the lead. Walk-offs are always worth celebrating.

Good morning, here’s our rally in the bottom of the 9th last night.

Even if you don’t like bat flips (what are you, against fun?), this one from little Charley Kershaw will melt your heart.

The Miami Marlins are back to being terrible after a brief winning streak, but their social media team continues to be on point. On Saturday, it was the birds, first on the field and what to watch out for off the field.
