Wells Fargo Championship DFS Lineup

The PGA Tour heads to Wilmington, North Carolina and the Eagle Point Golf Club for this year’s edition of the Wells Fargo Championship. The tournament is usually held at Quail Hollow, so past statistics for this event might not provide an accurate indication of what to expect at this year’s Wells Fargo Championship. The Eagle Point course will place an emphasis on ball striking and capitalizing on opportunities on the greens. This week’s event will also feature the return of the No. 1 golfer in the world in Dustin Johnson. It should be no surprise that he headlines our DraftKings fantasy lineup for this week. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for this week’s DraftKings PGA fantasy competitions.

Dustin Johnson, $13,000

Johnson is listed at $13K in this week’s DraftKings competitions, which is $2K more than any other golfer on the board. However, the world No. 1 is the sports betting favorite to win this event for many reasons as his skill set should translate to success at Eagle Point. D.J. was forced to miss the Masters with a fluke back injury. He had produced back-to-back wins in his last two starts at the Genesis Open and the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship before the injury. Johnson’s worst finish so far this season is tied for sixth, so at the very worst we still expect a top-10 finish if he doesn’t pull out the victory. Johnson is the closest thing to a lock to deliver a strong performance at this week’s Wells Fargo Championship so he is worth investing a little more money in for this week’s tournament.

Patrick Reed, $9,800

Reed has been an absolute disaster of late with three straight missed cuts. However, after blaming his equipment for the rough patch it’s only a matter of time before Reed gets back on track and starts producing at a high level once again. There is a good chance it happens this week at the Wells Fargo Championship, where he placed 28th a year ago. His recent struggles will keep many from using him in DraftKings tournaments and that makes him an intriguing sleeper pick.

J.B. Holmes, $8,000

Holmes’ ball striking ability makes him an even more intriguing pick for this week’s event. His struggles can be traced back to the greens but shouldn’t be a major factor this week at Eagle Point. Holmes should be a lock to finish in the top-30 at this week’s tournament. If he can sink his putts, he could easily deliver a top-10 finish at the Wells Fargo Championship.

Alexander Noren, $6,600

Noren hasn’t been very busy this year but he was dominant on the European Tour last year and it’s only a matter of time before he puts together a strong performance. His skill set is perfectly suited for this week’s tournament and at under $7K, he is an excellent sleeper option.

Graeme McDowell, $6,500

McDowell hasn’t been in the headlines this season. However, he has quietly put together a solid year including seven top-30 finishes in nine starts. That includes three finishes in the top-14, which isn’t bad at all for a golfer that is clearly being undervalued in DraftKings competitions. At just $6.5K, McDowell is another quality sleeper value pick.

Bryson DeChambeau, $6,100

DeChambeau has been awful for the most part in 2017. However, everybody knows how good he can be and that is why we are intrigued by his extremely low price tag in DraftKings competitions. DeChambeau might not win this event but he gained some good experience here a year ago and should be in line for a better result his second time around. At just over $6K, we are willing to take a shot on DeChambea as our deep sleeper value pick to complete our DraftKings lineup for this week.
