A cycle occurs when a batter collects a single, double, triple and home run in the same game. It is an uncommon accomplishment: it has been recorded 352 times in major league history, with the most recent coming from Bryce Harper on June 20, 2026, according to ESPN.

Only four players have completed the cycle three times in their careers: Adrian Beltré, Christian Yelich, Trea Turner and Bob Meusel. The only postseason cycle was produced by Brock Holt for the Boston Red Sox against the New York Yankees in Game 3 of the 2018 American League Division Series, according to ESPN.

Some franchises have accumulated far more cycles than others. The San Francisco Giants lead active clubs with 26 cycles; their most recent was Pablo Sandoval on Sept. 15, 2011, and franchise records list Dave Orr and Mike Tiernan as the only Giants-era players with two cycles each. The Pittsburgh Pirates follow with 24 (most recently John Jaso on Sept. 28, 2016), where three players have hit multiple cycles. The Boston Red Sox have 23, including Brock Holt’s 2018 postseason cycle, and the Oakland Athletics have 21, with Mark Ellis supplying the club’s latest on June 4, 2007.

Other teams and recent examples: the St. Louis Cardinals have 20 cycles (most recently Nolan Arenado, July 1, 2022); the Minnesota Twins 16 (Byron Buxton, July 12, 2025); the New York Yankees 15 (Melky Cabrera, Aug. 2, 2009); the Chicago Cubs 13 (Pete Crow-Armstrong, June 15, 2026); the Baltimore Orioles 12 (Cedric Mullins, May 12, 2023); and the Texas Rangers 12 (Wyatt Langford, June 30, 2024), according to ESPN.

Additional club totals cited include the New York Mets (11), Washington Nationals (11, with Trea Turner accounting for three cycles), Philadelphia Phillies (11, most recently Bryce Harper), Tampa Bay Rays (11), Houston Astros (10), Milwaukee Brewers (10, Christian Yelich has three), Los Angeles Dodgers (10) and Detroit Tigers (10). The distribution highlights both historical eras and modern examples when a player strings together the four distinct hit types in a single game, according to ESPN.
