According to ESPN, across Europe’s top five leagues — the Bundesliga, LaLiga, Ligue 1, the Premier League and Serie A — a handful of clubs stand far ahead in all-time domestic championship counts. Juventus and Real Madrid top the list with 36 league titles apiece, followed by Bayern Munich with 35, Barcelona with 29 and Paris Saint-Germain with 14.
According to ESPN, Juventus has won 36 Serie A championships since the club’s founding in 1897. The club captured its first league trophy in 1905 and most recently in 2019-20. Juventus has finished as Serie A runner-up 21 times and registered nine straight titles from 2012 to 2020. ESPN also notes Juventus holds the Coppa Italia record (15) and has won the Supercoppa Italiana nine times.
According to ESPN, Real Madrid has also claimed 36 LaLiga crowns. The club’s first Spanish league title came in 1931 and its most recent in 2023-24. Real Madrid’s domestic haul includes 20 Copa del Rey trophies, 13 Supercopa de España titles, a Copa Eva Duarte and a Copa de la Liga. ESPN adds Real Madrid has a record 32 international trophies, including a record 15 European Cup/UEFA Champions League wins.
According to ESPN, Bayern Munich has secured a Bundesliga-record 35 titles, highlighted by 11 consecutive championships from 2013 through 2023. ESPN lists Bayern’s additional honours as one UEFA Cup, one European Cup Winners’ Cup, two UEFA Super Cups, two FIFA Club World Cups and two Intercontinental Cups.
According to ESPN, Barcelona has 29 LaLiga titles since the club’s 1899 founding and won the inaugural LaLiga in 1929. Barcelona’s domestic silverware also includes 32 Copa del Rey trophies, 16 Supercopa de España wins, three Copa Eva Duarte titles and two Copa de la Liga trophies, plus 22 European and international honours, per ESPN.
According to ESPN, Paris Saint-Germain has 14 Ligue 1 titles, 12 of which came after the 2012-13 season. ESPN also records PSG’s domestic cup success as 15 Coupe de France wins, 14 Trophée des Champions and nine Coupe de la Ligue trophies.
