The Chicago White Sox are close to finalizing a one-year contract with free agent right-handed pitcher Erick Fedde, according to multiple sources familiar with the negotiations. While the deal has not been officially announced, discussions between the two sides are said to be in the advanced stages.

Fedde, 30, is looking to return to Major League Baseball after spending time overseas. He previously pitched for the Washington Nationals from 2017 to 2022. During his tenure in the majors, Fedde recorded a career ERA of 5.41 over parts of six seasons, appearing in 102 games and making 88 starts.

Following a challenging 2022 season, Fedde signed with the NC Dinos of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), where he experienced a resurgence. With the Dinos, he emerged as a top performer in the league, showcasing improved control and effectiveness on the mound. His success in Korea has renewed interest from MLB clubs seeking rotation depth.

For the White Sox, the acquisition of Fedde would come as part of a broader effort to bolster pitching depth heading into the 2026 season. The club is in a transition phase, aiming to improve upon recent performances while developing younger talent. Adding an experienced arm like Fedde could provide stability to a rotation that has seen changes in recent years.

Although precise financial terms of the pending deal have not been disclosed, the one-year structure indicates a low-risk opportunity for both the player and the team. For Fedde, it presents a chance to re-establish himself in the majors. For the White Sox, it’s an opportunity to strengthen their pitching staff without a long-term commitment.

More details are expected once the agreement is formally completed and announced by the club. Until then, both sides appear optimistic about the outcome as spring training approaches.
