Why Kentucky Will Win The Title

It is rare for a team to go wire-to-wire atop the college basketball rankings. Should Kentucky continue their winning ways and finish out the coming weekend with a title, the Wildcats will have done just that.

Betting odds have favored Kentucky every game this season, and John Calipari’s group has yet to give them reason to change. Going 38-0 is quite the feat, but UK’s season will not be deemed a success without to more wins. That is why these Wildcats will finish the job, hoisting their title trophy and finishing the season undefeated.

At times over the past month or so, it seemed like Kentucky has taken their dominance for granted. That all changed in the Elite Eight as Notre Dame took UK down to the final minute, leading for much of the way.

The Fighting Irish showed the country that Kentucky can indeed be game-planned for. They showed the Wildcats that, perhaps, going undefeated wouldn’t be as easy as they may have expected.

But they did not show the country that Kentucky could be beaten, despite how close it was.

Seeing how close they came to losing perfection, and how little their opponents care about past success, this Kentucky team will come into the Final Four with a chip on their shoulder for the first time this season. They will hope to show the nation exactly why they’ve gone undefeated this far, and why they will go down as one of the greatest basketball teams in college basketball history.
